WITH TEETH COMMISSION FUNDS

I am glad to announce I got selected for the WithTeeth funds to make a new short film. Thanks to the generosity of Withteeth, Nowness, LSFF and C4 Random Act!

In 2016, London Short Film Festival launched With Teeth, a new commissioning fund designed to support boundary-pushing and daring artist moving image work. Designed to prioritise the artists’ vision and to fund independent work that just won’t conform, With Teeth aims to nurture artists with the support to take creative risks.

#WITHTEETH commissions announced

In 2016, LSFF launched WITH TEETH, a new fund supported by Arts Council England National Lottery Funding, designed to champion the short-form auteur and commission new, independent moving image work that just won’t conform.

We launched our inaugural open call back in May and were overwhelmed by the range and originality of the pitches we received. From 200 submissions, 12 projects were shortlisted – each with a unique take on the 2017 theme, possession.

A panel of our pals and industry experts – made up of British Council Film‘s Christine Bardsley, NOWNESS‘ Gavin Humphries and C4 Random Acts‘ Catherine Bray – made the final decisions on the projects we ultimately selected and now, we’re very proud to announce our three #WITHTEETH artist commissions.

Each has been chosen for their distinctive practice, voice and ideas, and will receive a £2000 grant to produce and deliver their moving image work, alongside a world premiere and curated special event at LSFF 2018 and continued industry mentorship.

The three artists selected to receive With Teeth commissions; Zoe Aino, Kim Noce and Tash Tung. Each artist has been chosen for their distinctive practices, voices and ideas. Read more about the artists and their With Teeth projects here: http://shortfilms.org.uk/projections/107

Kim Noce is an animator that has screened at London Short Film Festival over a number of years. Her short THE EVENING HER MIND JUMPED OUT OF HER HEAD won Best Animation at LSFF in 2017. For With Teeth, Kim will make “an ode for all the mothers choosing to be possessed by love.”
